                     The Help

You is Kind, You is Smart, You is Important........

Where do we start? I think it is safe to say that we all loved The Help. Bringing to life the view of 2 main characters, and some of Minny thrown in on the side, gave us a look at times in the south in the 1960's.
Reading about how the maids were treated and how they were reguarded as being deseased is appaling to me. It was so easy to hate Miss Hilly so much because she was the picture perfect Southern Belle snob. I love that Skeeter was able to see that Hilly's thinking was wrong and that she wanted to help turn things around. I can't imagine what it would have been like for someone like Skeeter to live during that time and have to keep quiet about how you feel on that subject. I for one would have been tarred and feathered and probably hung from a tree.
I love how Aibleen found the strength to talk to Skeeter and to keep on the other maids to share their stories too. When the others were sharing it was nice to read that not all of them had experiences like Minny. That some of them worked for good families and were treated good.
The movie was also good aside from a few things I had pictured different in my mind. 1. Constantine was supposed to look like Aunt Jamima and she looked like a little old homeless lady with no teeth, and 2. Her daughter was a little on the dark side. I love how the relationship between Minny and Miss Celia was brought out on screen. Minny being so fiesty and opionated and Miss Celia just being a little stupid.
Overall a good book I think we all gave it 5 stars on good reads!!
